Our focus is period-property interior fit-out in Berlin: built-in wardrobes for Altbau alcoves, storage under roof pitches and workspaces that fit around existing pipes and meters. Everything is built to individual measurements and to what our clients need and want.

Alongside that come solid-wood furniture and building elements such as doors and door frames. The commercial side is counters and reception desks for practices, restaurants and event spaces.

Tischler or Schreiner – Berlin says Tischler, and it is the same trade.

Working in an occupied flat

Most of our work takes place in flats people are living in. That is why we make most elements at our workshop in Treptow. On site, pieces are only fitted and installed, which keeps dust and installation time to a minimum. We agree dates with you reliably in advance and tell you exactly which days may get louder.

We measure the room

We come to your flat, look at the space and take the measurements ourselves. This is where the details get settled: what has to fit inside, and what the room will allow.

The visit commits you to nothing

Step 2

We agree the design and the quote

Planning is done from those measurements and from hand sketches, gone through with you so both sides picture the same thing. You get a quote before anything is built.

Most of the piece is made in the workshop. That is what keeps the time spent inside your flat short.

We install it

On site it is fitting rather than building: adjusting cuts, drilling, and setting the piece into the room. We clear up and take our waste with us.

That can be arranged. I am not an early riser, so I am happy to meet in the evening, 6 or 7pm for example.

Yes. The measure-up (Aufmaß) is where the critical details get settled, the ones that decide how the finished piece works day to day. Questions almost always come up that only you can answer.

It depends on the current workload and on the scope of your commission. Usually about three months pass between placing the order and installation.

As a rule we do not release design drawings before the order: a design has too often been handed to someone else to build. During planning we go through every detail with you using hand sketches, so both sides picture the same thing. A finished drawing can be arranged separately.

You can see samples of most materials. We either bring them to the first or second appointment, or we meet at the workshop, where you can go through the timber and material collection.

Part of it. For tradesman's services in your own home, German tax law (§ 35a EStG) grants a reduction of 20 per cent of the labour cost, up to a statutory annual ceiling, taken straight off your income tax. Materials do not count, and neither do hours in the workshop. Only the work done at your home counts, meaning the installation. Our invoice shows the labour share separately from the material. If you want the tax reduction, pay the invoice by bank transfer, because the tax office does not accept cash payments for it. You are still welcome to pay in cash; you just forgo the reduction. Whether and by how much this applies to you is your tax office's decision, based on your tax return, not ours.

In the large majority of cases, yes. Most delivery and installation appointments run from a brief set-down to one to three working days, and the work area is left tidy every evening.

Most furniture and components are prefabricated in our workshop, so on site it is usually a matter of small adjusting cuts and drilling. It is rarely entirely free of dust and noise. What you get in return is a piece built and fitted to your wishes. And you cannot plane wood without making shavings.

Normally not, since everything should already be settled at the measure-up. Many clients trust us with their key and come home to the finished fittings after work. Whether you want to be there is entirely up to you.

We clear up, and we take all of our waste away with us.

Anything that does not fit is adjusted or rebuilt until it does, which is why an exact measure-up is taken beforehand. If something breaks later, the statutory warranty applies, and beyond that we are generally accommodating for longer.
