Control desk for an events hall, Berlin

modular · on castors · reconfigurable

8.00 m long · 90 cm deep · up to 1.60 m highjatoba veneer, oiled · black pearl plywood

An eight-metre control desk for a multimedia events hall, where no two evenings run the same way. The visible surfaces are veneered in jatoba, the carcasses in black pearl multiplex.

So it is built as a system rather than as furniture. It stands on castors, it can be rebuilt, and fascia panels fix at any point along it.

Across eight metres that means every event gets its own layout, without anything being cut apart.

Continuous desk run in veneered timber in front of round-arched windows in a hall.
Seen from the hall
Rear of the desk run: individual modules on castors, dark side panels with pale timber edges, work surfaces with built-in equipment, floor boxes set into the stone floor.
